So I always sleep with water on my beside table except last night I knocked it over and It went everywhere, the only thing is that I only realised that this morning. Now, I have an iPod docking station on my beside table too, that is plugged in behind the table. When I woke up this morning, it had gone off and I am worried that water got into the plug. How can I safely remove it and check without getting electrocuted?

...and in future, keep the water in a bottle, with a lid...

Okay so basically turn the power point off and then pull the plug without touching the metal prongs. Wipe them and the point with a dry cloth or towel and plug back in and try to flip the switch. If anything seems wrong turn it off again and have somebody licenced look at it. NEVER do electrical work if you don't know what you are doing. Be safe.
