Please, please help me! I dont know what i can do anymore?

My friend has depression, and anxiety, I'm so worried about him. He says things like 'everything i do fills me with anger and misery' ' i doubt things will get better' and he won't listen anymore, he's adamant that things won't get better. I'm running out of ways to reassure him that, his gf, his friends and family do all love him to pieces and that he shouldn't hate himself as much as he does. I 'm just so worried about, and just, how can I help him? He's going to start seeing a councillor/therapist whoever it is. But yeahh, he prefers to talk to me about it over anyone else, and i just don't know what i can do to help/reassure him anymore.

And please don't post answers saying he's mental or retarded or whatever which is what i've heard before, because he's not.

Well talking to a counselor is a start... And instead of being worried that he's not listening to you anymore start listening to him. Sometimes when things seem hopeless you just need things to be normal. Talking all the time about what us driving you nuts can drive you more nuts if you don't have the answer. I've been through it before. Working 2 jobs still not having enough money not knowing if things would get better... Not sleeping being stressed.. Freaking out.. Needing help but not wanting to be embarrassed to ask.. It takes a lot out of you. Just be his friend and encourage him when things to go right.. Take em out make em laugh... Keep his mind off it and let the counselor to their job... If things start getting better and he does like talking to you he will come around.
