BBC's and other mass media's role?

NHK, the Japanese counterpart of BBC, has announced the change of its chairman.

The new chairman said: Being a public mass media, NHK cannnot say things which contradict what the Japanese government say. What would happen if the chairman of BBC said the same thing?

Is a viewer entitled to refuse to pay the charge for NHK's biased broadcasting?

you have hit the nail on the head

the independence of the BBC ensures it can put governments under scrutiny, without fear of biting the hand that feeds it

look at rupert murdochs news international abuse of the media scandal

that is why we must fight to prevent the tories getting there clammy hands on the BBC and turning it into a tory mouthpiece

The BBC can and have disagreed with many governments and politicians, even the PM, on many a topic. It is extremely biased and is run with a political agenda, that is to say it's completely anti-nationalistic.

They will jump at the chance to burn white skin head Nazis when they target young Muslim girls, quick to note the white Skinheads are indeed white British Christian Skinheads. The reverse is not true, this is something it will do irrespective of which government is in charge.

The BBC have free speech and they use it, the also have a responsibility to provide unbiased oversight which they neglect. It wouldn't matter if we didn't fund it with our taxes, then their biased wouldn't bother me.

    Why should they/

The BBC news is one of the most versatile, commentary and most informative reporting of the news which is shown around the world. They can stand on their own achievements.

The BBC would never feel the need to go out on a limb about anything, they never have, why should they? There have been times when Muslims have accused them of bias in favour of Israel, and even times when Muslims have stormed BBC Offices and flown the Palestinian Flag from the roof. But apart from Muslims, no one has any strong opinions about anything in the British Media.

  • The BBC is actually quite Right wing with a former Conservative MP in charge and a former editor of The Times as its news editor. But it is meant to be impartial and be neither for or against any particular political party.

bbc news is subtile communist racial class hatred, their 'comedy' department isn't however..

instance...bbc tv one show inviting viewers to google check see their house isn't racist subject to 18th century slave compensation.. any little drop of nastiness socked to the aborigines of these islands and the bbc is there..
