is this a root tip sticking through my gum? had a tooth removed 3wks ago but its still sore?

3wks ago i had a tooth removed because my dentist was unable to do my root canal because he could not find one of the roots... so he pulled it, but a root snapped while he was pulling so he went fishing around and pulled a root out. so i believed it was all gone. a couple of days later i got earache and an awful taste in my mouth, i went back and i had dry socket, a dressing was put in and that was the end of it. it was still a bit sensitive.... but i thought it would be ok soon. but its been 3wks and its no better and when i look at it there is a small white circle about 2-3mm big, its hard, at fist i thought it was a scab.. its just to the side of my socket.. like on the edge of it, but the more i think about it the more i think heyyy im pretty sure thats a tooth root!! is it? that seams to be where its sensitive. iv tried scratching it with my finger but it is solid. is it really a tooth root? do i need to go back?

Hi nikki, definetely go back. Sorry to hear your having such a bad time - I know how sore tooth problems can be. When I had a tooth pulled a blot clot formed and eventually that turned whitish - could that be what you are seeing? But I had no pain after a few days, I was just very careful with the clot so it didn't come out as that's what dry socket is!!! And I've heard that is excruitiating! After 3 weeks I don't think you should be in pain so I would go back asap. Really hope you get it sorted!!! I wouldn't touch the white bit incase it is a 'scab' because if you dislodge it it might cause dry socket again. Good luck
