    Will probably get a few thumbs down for this but Enzo Calzaghe had 4 world champs from within a 20 mile radius of his gym. Even though the gym was in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by just a couple of towns and small villages. No one will find such a sparse population of people and produce that many champions again.

    It's hard to say which trainer had the best or the most champions because many times, after getting a special fighter, trainers would get a good reputation which led to all sorts of fighters asking to be trained by them but only other fighters with good reputation tend to get the opportunity [so after fame, they didn't ''make'' the fighters they got].

    Great trainers that come to mind include;

    -Jack Blackburn [trained Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott, Kid Mazza, Sailor Friendman and for some time Sugar Ray Robinson].

    -Angelo Dundee [trained Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and to some extent Jose Napoles and Wilfredo Gomez].

    Cus D' Amato [this was a SPECIAL trainer. Not only did he make great champions such as Floyd Patterson, Mike Tyson, Rocky Graziano, Jose Torres and Bobo Olson, but he also INVENTED a boxing style [peek-a-boo] and left behind other great trainers [Teddy Atlas, Kevin Rooney & Joe Farriello].

    Ray Arcel and Freddy Brown trained Roberto Duran. Combine Duran and Benny Leonard (and Larry Holmes @ stated by Teodor) and Arcel deserves among the top honors.

    Taken from Arcel's obituary, he trained:

    Ezzard Charles, Jim Braddock, Bob Olin, Tony Zale, Barney Ross, Billy Soose, Ceferino Garcia, Lou Brouillard, Teddy Yarosz, Freddie Steele, Jackie (Kid) Berg, Alfonso (Peppermint) Frazer, Abe Goldstein, Frankie Genaro, Sixto Escobar, Charley Phil Rosenberg, Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes and Benny Leonard. His widow said yesterday that he had trained 22 champions, and that his favorite was Leonard, a lightweight who became champion during World War I.

    I have Emanual Steward and Eddie Futch at the top of that list, all the others are a very distant 3rd thru 10th, names like Ray Arcel, Angelo Dundee, George Benton, Lou Duva, Teddy Atlas, Joe Goosen, Freddie Roach and Nacho Berinstien also come to mind, but they are nowhere near the type of trainers Steward or Futch were.

    Emanual Steward was as close to universally respected as anyone in history, a great man and a great trainer.
