    A sequence of things is a set of things arranged in a definite order. An arithmetic progression (abbreviated A.P.) is a sequence of numbers called terms, each of which, after the first, is derived from the preceding one by adding to it a fixed number called the common difference. The common difference can be found by subtracting any term from the one following it.

    l = a + (n - 1)d

    where: l = nth term

    a = first term

    d = common difference

    2,4,6,8,10............? is an arithmetic progression

    d = 6 - 4 = 2

    l = a + (n - 1)d

    l = 2 + (9 - 1)2

    l = 18 >>>>>9th term

    Let's verify your formula.

    2*nth=term

    2*9 = 18

    Your formula is okay.

    That is very easy... we can write the sequence that is

    2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18... then the 9th term is 18... but we can calculate using a formula.... it is a PA with a1=2 and r =2...

    The formula is an = a1 + (n-1)*r .... then here it is

    a9 = 2 + (9-1)*2 = 2+16 = 18 confirmed.... OK!

    2*n=answer

    where n is the term

    not 2*n= term

    Therefore:

    2*10 = 18

    U9 = a + 8d

    U9 = 2 + 8 x 2

    U9 = 18
