What makes you an adult?

By law its a age ......i always told my kids that when I don't have. to TELL them to do their responsibilities and they do them WITHOUT BEING TOLD TO....they are showing adult behavior..

so...I would say when you don't have to depend on someone else to THINK for you...you are adult material......when you can take care of yourself without depending on others to take your load too......you're a mature adult

Depends how you phrase the question.

For the government, someone becomes an adult when they turn 18 (though some places its 17) or 21 (full fledged adults have the right to drink alcohol).

For people, its a bit different. One may be 22 but act as a 15 year old. So despite being an adult by law, someone may not consider you as one depending on how you act and how you think. For instance, throwing a wild drunken party would be frown upon if you are in your mid to late 20's. People will say act your age.

What Makes You An Adult

I think you can choose if you could be an adult or not. When you were a kid you were open, fun-loving, happy and blight nothing could stand in your way. You were intelligent, in more ways then one, and you were proud. I think maturity just strips that all a way from you. Kids can be really wise and smart if you would just stop looking down at them like little bags of boogers. They say everyone has to grow up one day but I saw no you choose to grow up. You could become some cranky, stressed, work machine or you could be how you were as a kid. That's why people have kids to maybe bring back a piece of them that was missing, a piece of them that was taken away from them by maturity.

A big part of it is responsibility, both in what you have to take on and how responsible you are. There's also a bit of losing innocence and becoming wiser. A good example of someone growing into adulthood is the Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander.

Once you refrain asking that question, you'll be an adult.

one only knows ones own adult capabilities and one doesn't have to freely share them!!!
