Seriously? I haven't seen a desktop email client in over 10 years. That alone is reason enough: they are obsolete. Also they are unreliable, difficult to secure, expensive to maintain, etc.

There had to be an official memorandum that gave the reason for the change. Get a copy of it and point out the flaws.
