is it illegal to 'run' a 100watt front?

Is it illegal to 'run' a 100watt front headlight bulb on a motorcycle?

Given cars etc., have 2 x 55watt bulbs so why can't we?

    Hello

Yes it is illegal as they are more than the max allowed. Just because the are on sale does not make them road legal to use. They are meant for things like off road rally cars.

Your electrics would not handle it on one fuse as that is rated to cope with the 55. If you have 2 X 55 they will be on different fuses so that if one blows a fuse the other still works. Cars use a fuse for each Main Beam and another for each Low Beam which includes other things like brake lights.

Apart from which when a part is made for lights they will come with a Max Watts that it is safe to use for

If it is on the GS forget it as it will melt the housing with the projector lamp soaking all the heat up. I use 2 Hella micro DE fog lights and 2 Hella driving lights on a bar under the beak with a Nippy Norman Auto switch. -- http://www.nippynormans.com/products/autoswitch/it... -- Hella do HID ones now as well if you have the money.

100W is illegal as well and they will be marked "Not for road use".

Yes and it will overheat the wiring and the housing.

You can have twin heads on a bike on some models.

Get stopped and you will get a red notice and be waling home.

55 will do this blind old git but whether I miss 'em all remains to be seen!

Also have a sidecar mounted so is it allowed to 55er spots?

A 100W bulb will keep blowing a fuse.
