Why are many wrestling fans....?

Update:

Closeted about their homoerotism? I mean let's face it, two guys wrestling around on the ground carries a very clear homoerotic subtext. More so in actual professional (legitimate) wrestling championships where the outfits, holds and positioning is, well, ambiguous at the least.

Let's not forget that the origins of this sport were from the ancient Greeks.

So why are male (and female) fans of wrestling so uncomfortable with facing up to their repressed homosexuality, or homoerotic desires?

Update 2:

I neglected to mention; the ancient Greeks wrestled (man on man) in the nude.
