What is an alternative way of heating a tank without a heat pad?

I am not allowed to have a heat pad now because it is too dear to run it (even if just in the winter), so I need an alternative.

I am not looking for a permanent alternative, it only needs to be temporary but has anyone got any ideas?

    What does "too dear to run it"?

    What kind of tank are you talking about? Need way more info. We don't know what you're talking about.
