Will the night shift work for me?
I usually wake up at around 1pm and go to sleep at 4-5am, and when I try to sleep early I am filled with small panic attacks for what seems like no reason. Will the night shift work for me? Or should I stick with the day shift?

I used to work in night shifts for almost 2-3 years. I change my sleeping and eating habits according to my shift time.
Say for example, if my shift starts at 9 pm, I will have breakfast and go office. After four hours will have my lunch. Will have dinner at office or after coming home, and this is again after four hours. And I will go to bed.
This worked perfect for me.
When all my friends were gaining were weight due to night shift, I remained healthy and without any side effects.

Night shift tends to be filled with people who have little problems like yours. I am autistic and worked night shift for years. It did fine for me, but people were somehow aware that I was different and made allowances. I suggest that night shift would be a good spot for you if you are willing to make allowances for the weirdos who are going to be working on your shift.
Do try getting a prescription for prochlorperazine and see if that solves your panic attacks.

That sleep schedule would be perfect for second shift, and could probably be shifted to work for third (I don't know about you, but I always have an easier time going later than earlier).
