I want to make a character for an oc of mine but I need a song?

The story is that he died on holiday showing off to his girlfriend by jumping into a river, in which he drowned. Every year on the anniversary of his death his parents and now ex girlfriend return to mourn him as his spirit watches, though they dont know he is there. I want the song to be about regret.

My character is 17, called Gideon, and is pretty awkward and not good at relating to people which he makes up for by being cocky and showing off to impress others.

Id like the song to be indie or punk rock or alt. rock, about regret, but not solely about love. Preferably a male singer, but that isnt too important
