What candy can I eat with braces?
I'm getting braces October 12 and I'm going trick or treating with my friends. What candy can I eat if any?

It's possible that some of your friends, or even users on this forum, would say, "You can eat anything. I never followed the rules".
But orthodontic assistants dread the several days after Halloween - we spend a lot of time doing repairs. And if you're getting braces 20 days before Halloween, you will probably have a light, flexible wire that could be easily bent out of shape by eating the wrong things.
I don't know where you live so I hope my "U.S. candy" answer will help.
As someone else said, nothing hard or sticky.
These would be O.K. --
Junior Mints
Plain chocolate bars (no caramel or nuts)
Three Musketeers
Kit Kat
Plain M&M's (no peanuts)
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
If you get something you can't eat, maybe you can trade with your friends.
Thanks for being conscientious, and don't forget to brush!

No sweets are best because the sugar gets caught up in all the nooks and crannies of the braces and causes cavitys. But the worst are soft, carmel, toffee, tootsie roll, etc., type of sticky googy things.
