Depends some on make and model- but BMW /2 and early Harleys had frames with sidecar mounts and reinforcements for the side cars, CZ/Jawa 350 had similar frames, Urals have the same early BMW frame with sidecar mounts even when sold as 'solos'. BMW/2 standard with leading link forks and sidecar capable frames were about 25 to 40 pounds heavier than the 'solo' model with the telescopic front ends that were used on the following /5 models. Watsonian motorcycle frames for the BSA and Nortons were heavier than the factory 'solo' frames, Greeves had a leading link front end good for sidecar and some trial work. Some Goldwings have the leading link forks when used for sidecars, copy from the BMW. check you particular solo bikes warnings, many are NOT recommend for sidecar use, especially the R series crotch rockets using the engine as a stressed member.

Add to cumugeon's answer - there is usually a change in the gearing to give more torque at lower speeds sacrificing top speed.
If you go back a bit further the Much had provision t odrive the sidecar wheel as well. (actually it could be fitted with two side cars, one each side & both sidecar wheels could be driven. How's that a 4 x 3
