Why are they questions appearing where the word liberal is used as an insult when clearly it isn't an insult?
Given that liberals believe in equality and social freedom and that most westerners are effectively liberal.

Exactly, by default the questioner is openly admitting to being a republican/conservative without any shame or embaressment either. Those people are weird. Queer is the more correct word for them.
