Do you think Turkey's Erdogan set up the coup attempt himself?
He (or very close associates) assumed a false identity on-line, and gave people the courage to attempt a a coup? So knowing who got involved, it was easy to crush the coup. Do you think he could have done this to gain absolute power in his country?

No, he didn't. It's strange, however, that it ended so easily. I think it started as a demonstration to take Erdogan out. When Erdogan rallied his own demonstrators, violence broke out and the military stopped shortly thereafter. Erdogan was squelching public opinion and criticism over the past 2 years. What he's doing now by imprisoning professors and judges is exactly in line with what he's been doing in recent years, silencing critical news articles and so forth. Erdogan needs to step down for the good of Turkey. Why can't Turkish Parliament handle this?
