Does anybody else think it would be amazing if cable/satellite companies all went bankrupt and disappeared?

1) They have non-competition agreements that allow them to charge whatever they want.

2) They only bundle decently-priced Internet with their TV packages.

3) It's designed to be all garbage, except for like 2 channels.

4) They have notoriously bad customer service.

5) You could improve your life by doing literally anything else.

6) From $20/mo in the 1990s to over $100/mo for basic cable today has outpaced inflation significantly.

7) Antenna is free.

8) The respective channels charge tons of money for commercials and then charge the TV companies for the channels.

9) The saying isn't "cable/satellite and chill."

10) SERIOUSLY THOSE COMMERCIALS!!! You're paying absurd rates to watch loads of advertisements and even the DVRs don't escape them! I can't even watch an entire show because it just doesn't let me focus on a story.

11) No TV means less money going to Hollywood, which means less emphasis on celebrities and what they think about a world that no longer applies to them. I can't be the only person who is befuddled as to why the Kardashians are a thing.

Anybody else have thoughts?

I don't have cable, I just use the internet through my TV and entertain myself that way. Besides, I'm so picky on what I watch that I refuse to pay ridiculous prices for a bunch of garbage in hopes I might find a couple interesting things to watch. Times are getting harder financially, got no time or money for that crap.

Agreed. But I barely watch any tv since there's no entertaining shows anymore. I just use the internet and mind my own business. And yes tv is nothing but commercials.

Right, so they should all just disintigrate...? The lack of cable and internet providers would piss a lot of people off. They pay for the infrastructure, so you wouldn't even get internet on your phone anymore.

We shouldn't make them go away, we should regulate them so they can't provide terrible service.

During the 1980s, for almost all businesses in existence, it was a common scam theme to handle a companies accounts just so that they can file for a bankruptcy, and take advantages of perks that came with it. Complete and total neglect of the system for that, but both Dems and Reps made it this way, just so companies could use it as a faster growth thing. Bankruptcies are not supposed to be a natural course for a business, and the Supreme Court of the USA needed to step up on this since 1984, ever since they messed it all up to not decide on it at all.
