Auditory Processing Disorder??? My 10 year old reacts badly to noises in the classroom,?
When other kids make noises in the classroom, like popping or other types of noises, it affect her concentration and she will hide under her desk, put her fingers in her ears, and lately (the most disturbing) she has started to "choke" herself. We are getting her assessed on Monday as we are quite worried, but just wondering what to expect at the assessment and what some of you other parents are thinking about this. She does well in school and does not have all of the symptoms that I have seen listed and she does seem to do worse at school than she does at home. Just really worried about her and not really sure how to help.

She's a spoiled brat. Nothing more. Its sick and sad parents are rushing for a label instead of realizing their child is just a brat and needs a smacking. She's learned to act that way and there's nothing wrong with her. She behaves like it bothers her since she knows if she does, she gets attention and the teacher will make the person stop.

I am no expert but I don't think it is Auditory Processing Disorder that she has if her speech and general hearing and school grade is ok and without being rude could it just be a phase or attention seeking she has got and exaggerates the problems when there is noise? Good Luck
