I want to fly to Rome in December and Google is not being helpful, is it true that the museums are closed in that month?

So I’m going on the first week of December.

Some will be closed around Christmas week, yes. It is a state holiday in most European countries.

I once lived in Italy. It is true that the month of December in Italy slows down considerably.

    Just checked. And found this:

"December 8, the Immaculate Conception, or Immacolata, is a pretty major holiday in Italy. Shops will be closed but sites are open (except for the Vatican Museums.) At noon, you can head to St. Peter's Square to hear Pope Francis give the Angelus (free, lasting about 15 minutes.)"

I would guess the other less notable museums follow suit. So for the most part they'll be open in December, but close December 8. Of course everything will be closed on Christmas Day. I mean everything; so best ensure you have a place to eat that day if you'll be there then.

    Ciao.

TOTAL NONSENSE..........ITALY relies heavily on tourism.....and tourist visit Italy 365 days a year.

Well, I just checked on two of them, using Google, and those two aren't closed in December. So I guess it isn't true that museums in Rome are closed in December. They'll all have websites. That's where you'll need to look.
