An crossroad and a car is using turn signal incorrectly, whose fault is it?

Im at a crossroad at a stop sign and want to go left. A Car approaches to my left (he has right of way) and is giving the right turn signal. If there are no other cars and i go ahead and turn left regardless of him, but he ignores the turn signal that he gave and crashes into me, who is at fault?

you have to make sure that the road is clear before moving regardless of what that driver is indicating

The person turning left is at fault. Whether the oncoming car was going straight or turning right, they had the right of way over you. As said, never trust a turn signal until you see a car turning. They could have been signalling a lane change, they may be signalling a turn further down the road, you don't know.

Neither of you are in the correct lane, insurance adjusters will split fault.
