Taiwan is a country. IT IS NOT PART OF EITHER CHINA OR JAPAN. It is a beautiful and great country that had its first democratic election in 1996. Support Taiwan and Japan but BOYCOTT THE CCP IN CHINA.

during WWII, China had their own civil war going-on, between the communist Mao and the free forces of Chang Ki Sheck ( sp? ). Mao & the Communists won and what was left of the free forces retreated to the Chinese island of Formosa. these free forces renamed the island Taiwan & have been there ever since, friendly to the U.S. The communists STILL claim the island is part of China, while the people ON Taiwan don't want to be. there have been fairly regular shelling where the two were shooting at each other .........

Taiwan used to be Japanese territory, but now a part of China, but many Taiwanese hate this Chinese claim and want to be independent from mainland China.
