It seems like belief in an imaginary friend who lives in the sky (heaven) and grants wishes (prayers) would seem to fit the description of “mental illness”.

How is homosexuality a mental illness? It wouldn't be an illness in the first place, it's just a way of thought and a preference. Homosexuals have fully functioning reproductive systems and they can and do have children by the normal process. Sexuality is not about sex. Homosexuality has been observed in more than a thousand species of mammals and birds including all the primates and all studies have shown that it is beneficial to the survival of the species which is why it has not been selected against by evolution.

Certainly being overly concerned with the sexual lives of strangers is a mental illness. Perhaps you should get that checked out.
