They are just expressions.

At some point we fumbled in the dark, we were beasts driven by instinct, and then we woke up and opened our eyes and saw what we were. And then we weren’t. Seeing gave us enlightenment and evolution of our souls.

Why curse anything

Even in the presence of light darkness still exists

Light cannot do anything itself. It was created by the supreme being. I don't think that light is a natural one. It's an essential one for human beings and other creatures. Darkness is the ever existing eternal phenomenon. The darkness is darkness only to human beings, not to God or eternal beings.

God is Energy; Light is Energy; Light, Energy, is Omnipresent. What is simply unperceived is simple "darkness." That lack of perception = "ignorance" (of Immanent Omnipresence).

Perverting of Energy = E-veiling, eviling (cf Christ Jesus' "If that Light in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness?").

"Cursing" is not an activity which man ought take on (as you judge, curse, so also are you judged--a two-fold sword or sacred-word). Only right-use or righteous judgment is profitable, and for that, one must needs have that Mind which was in e.g. Enoch, Abraham, Elijah, Jesus, Paul, Mary, Mohammad (owbp), and Sri Ramakrishna.

Even as Judaism, correctly practiced, is a religion of Life, Christianity a religion of Love, Islam a religion of Peace and Justice, and Hinduism a religion of Purity, so all true paths thereof re-cognize the Light of the living Word, Brahman, as Life, Love, Peace, and Purity.

Ignorance and malice are two errors re Energy, Light.

You are free to curse absence of light rather than darkness itself, but the two are the same anyway.

Light and dark.

There's multiple reasons why light and dark are considered two separate things.

Naturally religious and spiritual beliefs came from primitive man's reasoning and reaction of his enviroment. Knowing this, it is obvious that daytime is not seen as much as a threat as night time. Things seem more of a threat at night than at day. We can't see in the dark therefore we're completely vulnerable and useless. What can we do when we cannot see (The power just went out for me and I feel beyond lost)? Without light man is lost.

But what did primitive man think when he started to have dreams? Dreams only came at night when man slept. He came to the conclusion that if he saw people or ancestors in his dreams that this must be the time the spirits are awake; this must be the time they communicate.

It's beyond my means to explain everything to you. But there's much more you, on your own, can discover between why light is "good" and dark is "evil."

You're going to have to explain why first. Why is light inherently "good", and darkness "bad" (that's just a popular fairy tale but not derived from the natural world). As far as I'm concerned light and darkness are neutral concepts in terms of good and bad.
