I'm visiting Canada (Quebec) from the US. I'm excited but somewhat nervous. Can someone help me?
Okay, so it's like this:
-I am traveling on a Greyhound bus from New England to Quebec. And there will be no less than 100 passengers.
-I will be seeing and staying with family in Montreal, where i actually have roots. I'm part French Canadian btw.
-I will have both my valid passport and my return ticket handy.
-When the border guard looks through my passport and scans it, I highly doubt he/she will discover I have a criminal record or on a wanted list. (I've never been arrested or convicted once in my life. I certainly don't have a DUI). I have an obscure name anyway.
-I answer all the questions truthfully (what I'm in Canada for, where I'm staying, when I come back to the US, etc).
-I will NOT be bringing any drugs or weapons. However I may be bringing a box of cookies (sealed and store brought).
-I show that I have enough money (Canadian currency?) on me.
-I tell the guard I will be staying for 4 days, then I return home. I show my return ticket for proof.
-If asked about my job, I explain what I do.
Oh and I plan to look presentable when I arrive at the border. And act completely calm; looking either giddy or timid/anxious will raise the CBSA's suspicions.
I have been to Canada a few times without any problems. It's just that you encounter a different border guard every trip, and some can be pretty scary and unreasonable.
Anyhow, I'm still excited about this trip. And have nothing to hide. Will I be okay?

Don't worry about it. Just be respectful and bring a passport.

You are wrong about the shared data base of backgrounds and criminal records. I know it is there and active because I worked on one of the access softwares.
As you say, if you are honest, you need not be concerned.

Well, for one thing, there's no such thing as a Greyhound bus that seats 100 passengers.

Make sure to have an attitude problem if accosted by the mounties. Shout LOUDLY "Don't you know who I am!? I'm AN AMERICAN DAMN IT!

If you're coming from the states, then you will need your pass port to cross the boarder. You show it to the boarder patrol guards when the buss is ready to cross the boarder. The guards come on board and check your passport. If you don't have a criminal record you shouldn't have any issues. You should be okay to bring a box of cookies.
You don't have to show that you have any money on you.
You tell them how long you're staying for and if it's business or pleasure.
You shouldn't be asked about your job, if they do just be honest.
Just be a normal person, smile and be polite.
You're not likely to get the same boarder guard every time you cross the boarder, their schedules change.
Just don't do any thing too crazy such as have a temper tantrum, or shout out that you're an isis infidel while you're at the boarder you should be fine.

You are doing a fair bit more than most people do. You should not have any issues at all.
Be aware - they randomly take people aside for a more thorough inspection. While this is very unlikely to happen, it might - but, it means nothing. You might have been the 3rd person with blue eyes, for example. They just to it to keep people on their toes.
