Can I cross the Niagara River? Please read details below.?
I'm talking about the feasibility, not whether it is illegal or not. I found a very short path from the U.S to Canada that's only 300ft apart. Though I'm not actually thinking about crossing it for legal reasons, but rather just curious if I would be able to do it without much trouble (that Niagara River looks kinda intimidating from google maps).
What would be my best equipment/tool to get the job done?

It is possible to cross the river. Some have done it walking a wire.
Some take a boat. Very few try to swim. pole vault, motorcycle jump.
The river is swift. Suggest instead of looking at photos you look at a video.
the same volume of water goes past the narrow and wide parts.
To accomplish this in the narrow parts it flows FASTER.

Jet boats work well.

There are zillions of places where it is easy to cross the border. However, much of the USA side has electronic detection systems, so, they will know when you cross, even if no-one actually sees you.
And, if you get caught going either way, the penalties are pretty big.

Not feasible. The river is fast moving with deep canyon-like walls above the falls.
The narrower the channel, the water moves with more force, making crossing even more difficult.
There is a narrow spot almost at its mouth that is a lock in Buffalo, but security will haul you off if try to cross.

Can the Niagara River be crossed? Sure. Been done thousands of times. Best equipment? A fast boat operated by someone who knows how. Of course, we don't know where you are thinking of doing this, so we don't know how fast the current is there and therefore don't know just how fast the boat will have to go.Or if you know how to operate it.

It is deep and fast, so I assume that you do not mean swimming. Boaters are in the river all the time, but the shorelines are patrolled and you can not enter Canada by taking a boat over.

It's under video surveillance. You won't have time to drown.

There a bridges over it, but if you don't want to use one of those nuisances (heh), I suppose you could buy a spear-gun and hit the far bank, then tie it off on your end and use that, crossing hand by hand over the river..
