I just installed Windows 10 on a new build and I used an Old Windows 7 Product Key and Windows 10 Activated. So if you have your Windows 7 Product Key - Do a Clean Install of Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool. I recommend you Remove the Windows 7 hard drive and purchase a new SSD and do the Clean Install on the SSD. Then you can use the Windows 7 Hard Drive as a secondary (D:) Drive and still access your documents/pictures.

Although the offical period for upgrading ended you can still download windows 10 media creation tool, and upgrade your windows 7 PC that way as long as you have a valid windows 7 licence
