Should one stay in downtown Montreal or Old Montreal for a first tome visitor?

    Both are very close to each other, and between walking and the excellent public transport in Montreal, either area will work out fine. Just pick a hotel whose price and facilities work best for your stay.

    Old Montréal is really nice, anyway you are not far from downtown.

    Montreal is a rathole! Go to Western Canada or London instead.

    stay at the Chateau Frontenac. Wonderful old world atmosphere with modern comfort, and convenient to most of the city, plus nice view from many rooms,
