I might not be able to bring a bear or an elk down with my first shot. Do I need a rifle with a 30 round mag?

Update:

My Remington Brush Master holds 4 underneath. Is that not enough?

Friend I'm going to tell you a little secret about large magazines and hunting. When your life is in danger you have a tendency to tense up and freeze. As you're fumbling around with that semi-automatic weapon and that massive clip your chances of a jam dramatically increase. If I'm going to have to shoot at a bear I want a dependable weapon that's going to fire. A hunting rifle not an assault rifle. And my ideal hunting weapon includes a shotgun and rifle combination . If I miss with my bullet and there is a charging bear coming my way. I want to be able to wait. Until I cannot possibly Miss and blow the charging bear into hamburger meat.

Who cares? The hunter sometimes becomes the hunted, the price you pay for wanting to kill magnificent animals for so called sport.

In truth I would recommend a pump gun. But hard to find in a rifle. You need learn to space each shot. Take that 1/2 to 3/4ths second to reaim between shots. So unless after wounding 1. The herd charges from 300 yards a way to tromp you. You will miss with the next 29 rounds.

I'm sure you can't . Just stay out of the woods, you don't NEED to be there .

No, Unless you a engaged in a war large clips are not needed.

Fully automatic weapon aren't needed either.

But giving Elitist Depots the power to revoke Rights is foolish. Responsible Citizens are not the Problem. Keep weapons out of the hands of mentally deficient, irresponsible, and criminally inclined individuals.

No, the 30 round mag is for when all the elk gang up on you. Luckily, bears don't travel in herds.

Hunting has nothing to do with the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment is about the right to revolt against a dictator.

Perhaps you do. Sounds like you are a lousy marksman.

you need a high capacity clip (magazine) to kill socialist murder squads, not elk.

Socialism...150 million murders and still counting

Absolutely. If you can lay down some suppressive fire, your buddies can advance on the elk’s position.
