Getting over being scared of the dark?

So in my 20 years of life, I’ve never actually been scared of the dark until recently. I only started being scared of the dark when my husband and I found his friend who had hung himself. About a week ago. And now I have to sleep with our black lights on and if I go into any room that’s dark I feel uneasy and have to turn the light on. As the days have went on, it’s gotten easier to be in the dark. But I’m still uneasy and prefer to avoid the dark even though I do make myself deal with it sometimes to try and get myself used to it. Any suggestions on what I can do to get myself back to normal about being in the dark besides going to a therapist?

  • You’ll have to systematically desensitise yourself. Relax for a little while just then slowly expose yourself to the feared stimulus while slowly increasing the intensity of the energy exposure.

It may go away by itself in the near future.

There are more people then you know who are scared of the dark.

the dark is just the absence of light, try to look at it like that.
