In one simple word yes. With the nation turning against God as a supreme moral compass the promises that are contained in the old testament come to pass which tells you if you let this that and the other thing into your country and expel God from it. Your country will suffer and it lists about a thousand things. The lack of a firm foundation in God will cause a country multiple ills and eventually lead to its total destruction

No. These are all things you would expect from people living in crowded conditions. That is not to say that people in rural areas can't be druggies, mentally sick, and self-destructive. Hell, it was these areas that got us stuck with Trump.

Those conditions are a result of having learned very poor coping skills and life skills.

People who have been raised in homes where emotional resiliency is taught along with solid good coping skills, basic logic and problem solving skills and appropriate life skills are less included to have emotional illness, most types of mental illness and fewer addictions.

And that includes religious preoccupation and addiction.

Yeah, I doubt it. An awful lot of people raised in strict religious homes underwent horrific abuse. Physical, emotional, and sexual. I worked for an in-patient substance abuse center, and some of the worst stories I heard were from clients from "good Christian families".

Religion has led to more drug addiction, mental illness, and suicide than any other single cause.
