Has a professional athlete after being traded refuse to go to the team he was traded to and what was the final outcome?

Update:

@Reynaldo Weeks: you got it half right,Flood was traded and refused to report,Messersmith was not traded and did not refuse to report.

Yes.  Red Kelley was traded from the Detroit Red Wings to the New York Rangers, he chose to retire rather than being traded.  Eventually he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and agreed with the trade.

Jackie Robinson chose retirement over being traded from the Dodgers to the Giants.  He stayed retired.

Many, many times in every professional sport. The outcome was they sat unless the team made other arrangements. Ever hear of Curt Flood and Andy Messersmith?

    Jake Plummer retired.

    There are probably others.
