“Reduced Power, Traction Fault”?

Are there any OBD-II P-codes available? You get that by attaching a OBD module to the OBD port and reading out the P-codes. You can read it either with a computer or an engine scanner. A P-code is one that looks something like P0302, or P0420, etc.

Reading other previous posts about it, it seems to often occur as a result of the throttle-body fuel injectors going bad, or the whole engine computer going bad. But the best way to figure out which one is actually at fault is to read the P-codes.

When the system reads a traction fault the ECM will pull the power down from the engine.  Faulty sensors, faulty abs components, worn or mismatched tires.  No simple fix except to troubleshoot it one component at a time.  Not an easy task.  Best wishes.

It means that the road is icy, your tires are spinning, and the computer is reducing power so that you can stay in control of the vehicle.  This is normal

You will need a dealer level scanner to read the ABS and Traction fault codes.  Could be a bad wheel sensor/s or ABS module or vehicle speed sensor.   But check for worn tires first.

It would be news if any GM truck did not have that code or a variation of it.
