    Given,

    Mass (m) = 150g = 0.15kg

    Speed (v) = 40m/sec

    Work (w) = ?

    The work done will change into Kinetic Energy, when the ball brought to stop

    So, work done (w) = Kinetic Energy (K.E) = ½mv²

    Work done (w) = ½mv² = ½ x 0.15kg x (40m/sec)²

    = ½ x 0.15kg x 1600m²/sec²

    = 120Joules.

    W = KE = 0.15*40^2/2 = 800*0.15 = 120 joule

    Kinetic energy = ½mv² = ½(0.15 kg)(40 m/s)² = 300 J

    300 J energy will be required to stop the baseball (then its KE will be 0)

    Ans = 300 J
