Should I date my best friend even though I don't love him?

My best friend asked me to be his girlfriend a few days ago but I don t know what to tell him. He seems to be looking for a girl to marry while I just want a nice relationship. This would be my very first relationship and he would be my very first boyfriend. I just want to experience what its like to date someone and gain more experience with guys. I do have a huge crush on him, but I don't love him. I simply wouldn't marry him while he claims that he would marry me because I'm his type of girl. Will this be an issue between us? Should I still date him?

    I'm puzzled as you how can claim to have a crush on him, claim to be his best friend, and yet claim not to love him. Can you clarify?

    Are you afraid that it would ruin your friendship? If that's the case, it is a valid concern. Assuming you decide to pursue a relationship with him anyway, you are not obligated to marry him. However, you have to make this explicitly clear to him before you start dating.

    A relationship takes time to develop. If some guy asked me to be his girlfriend, i might die laughing. If he asked me out on a date, that's different. Dating is the process of getting to know someone. And if two people continue seeing each other, well, i guess eventually they are in a relationship.

    But most of the time, one date does it for me. Red flags fly all the time and most guys aren't worth my time.

    And you're too young to even consider marriage yet, or to even be thinking about it.

    Dating usually comes before love, not after. Love may come in time.

    Well why would you marry him when you haven't even dated yet?  I see where your coming from, but I fail to see where he is coming from.  He is getting a little ahead of himself.  If your crushing on him, go for it.  Just keep an eye on how attached he gets once you start dating
