are genuine ipad covers better than generic for any reason, I see identical cases for a fraction of the price, how is the Genuine one better?

I bought a cheap ipad cover case for about $15.00. It didn't last. In about 3 months I needed another cover because it became literally worn out. So I went ahead and bought the genuine Apple cover to replace it. Essentially I wasted my $15.00 on the cheaper one. The differences were huge: the quality of the materials is far better on the Apple version and in fact the Apple version actually fit better. There is an old saying : you get what you pay for, and in this instance that is definitely true from my experience.

This is NOT to say that you can't find a good quality generic cover. I feel sure there are some out there. I didn't want to take the chance and waste another 15.00 on a cheap brand (that would now be 30.00 wasted), rather just go ahead and get the top quality one - that was nearly 2 yrs ago and my Apple case is still looking brand new.

In my experience, non-Apple covers and cases are generally well made and made of good materials. Although Apple's covers and cases *might* be slightly better, it doesn't justify the huge price difference.
