Ways to start a nonprofit that doesn't cost?

You can't start a nonprofit with zero money, it isn't a thing that happens unless you go asking for money and fundraising yourself. However, once you get started, there are plenty of ways to raise money online. When you get to the point that you start your own non-profit and have done a few successful fundraisers. Get in contact with some fundraising consultants for non-profits and see what you can get going.

You think you can just collect & keep money by calling it a nonprofit? Thats a crime.

I've started one and it is not all that cheap. You have to file paperwork with the IRS. That USUALLY requires a lawyer, although I fought through the red tape myself. You also have to post announcement in the local paper(s). IDK what the IRS fee is now; the last I heard it was $600.

Audrey, there is no way to start a non-profit or any other business with no money.  At the very least you will need enough money to obtain internet access for long enough to file the paperwork to form a 501-c.

I mean, you can panhandle to get money...but that is still costing you time.
