I have had plenty of mice. They can certainly have sand, as they often live on the ground in the wild. But I haven't known any mouse that would be interested in a sand bath. There is no harm in trying it out.

Sand is safe for mice and they might like digging in it but they don't use it to bathe like hamsters do.

They wouldn't use it like hamsters do.
Mice are always grooming themselves like a cat licking fur. Actually a clean sort of animal.

I don't think they would know what to do with it. They bathe with their tongues and paws, not with sand.
