Does anyone think the TV show Storage Wars is Fake?

For them to find valuable stuff in a storage unit every episode has to be bogus. Has anyone been to a storage auction to see how different it is from the show?

Always did, which is why I never bothered watching.  Same for the pawn shop stuff, etc.

Old News.  Storage Wars is 100% fake.  One of the stars, Dave Hester, filed a court document that said:

"[The] defendants ... would like the public to believe that the Series presents a genuine and accurate portrayal of the abandoned storage locker auction process," said the lawsuit. "The truth, however, is that nearly every aspect of the series is faked."

The storage lockers are combinations of between 10-20 locker auctions and then they combine the best stuff into one locker and that's what you see them competing for.

Hester also said "While on location filming an auction, Defendants also film footage of the cast members and the public bidding when no actual auction is taking place, in order to make it appear that any of the cast members is bidding at any given auction, whether or not he or she is actually bidding on the unit."

Hester also said that A&E tended to pay for the lockers being big on by smaller businesses while letting the larger operation use their own money.  So A&E was keeping weaker fish in the game to make it more competitive.

Some contestants would take valuable items and plant them in the lockers so that they could be 'found' on camera and therefore be more interesting.  But by doing so that item was out of the contestant's store, so A&E would actually pay a rental fee to the contestant for the item the contestant then pretended to 'find'.

A producer has admitted that in those 'interview' segments the stars are given lines...about half their dialogue.

Here's the thing - Storage Wars IS NOT UNUSUAL in it's level of fakery.  This is what "reality" shows are.  They're staged, engineered entertainment.  They just USUALLY don't SCRIPT things.  They direct action, but they let the participants ad lib the words.  Storage Wars doesn't even do that.

Everyone thinks it's fake because it is.
