Ride comfort of a mazda miata convertible?

I am over seventy years old, over six foot tall,  I don't drive a Miata because it is comfortable!

I enjoy driving it because it has precise handling and corners better then any other car I have driven except an RX-7.

Feeling the road is paramount to getting through a turn in the most timely manner.

If you want comfort go get a land yacht. Sixteen feet long and ten foot wide and stick to the four lane.

Compared to what?  a 1970s British sports car . . . an Alfa? . . . just about any old American full-size car? . . . a Jeep?

The standard has lowered:  my ladyfriend has a Lincoln MKX - although the same chassis/engine as my MKS - it rides like a TRUCK.  No one other than hard-core would have put-up with it 20 years ago - but, we have new generations who've never driven in a LTD, 98 or such  from when cars were quiet and comfortable.  Maybe today's trucks handle better, but I'd buy a luxo-cruiser if they still made them.

I've got Miata on my shopping list but haven't driven one yet - have got to assume that it rides at least as well as my last sports car - will be more quiet - will be sealed against wind and rain - and have good AC - and be reliable.  Probably a 5 on a 1970s scale of 10 . . . . and an 8 on today's scale.

It is a true sports car and sports cars do not ride good. They are designed to handle well not ride good. About a 5. 

'3'.  Not a ton of suspension travel due to low ride height, short wheelbase makes the ride fairly busy, firm shocks mean you feel a lot of bumps.  Fun handling always comes at a price.  Definitely not the worst riding car ever but like any small sports car, there are certainly better choices for eating up freeway miles by the hundreds or for driving on pothole ravaged roads.
