Why do people expect wild animals to understand English?
I saw a footage where a wildlife vet says "Easy now, this won't hurt" to a bear that he is about to sedate.

It's the calming tone of voice rather than the words that the animal understands.

I don't know. Most Brits can't even understand it and they claim they invented it.

For the same reason that when people go into a Chinese grocery and assume the people don't speak or understand English they talk louder and more inunciated......

I would like to know why do people expect their questions to be answered when they cannot take the time and trouble to think about something first.
The human language spoken by the vet does not matter. It is the tone of his voice that the bear can hear. The vet was I can guarantee was speaking in a low and calming voice.
