How many toxic materials does an average AEV battery system include, and in what quantities?

I've been curious about the tradeoffs between AEV and modern combustion engines.  Since electricity requires something else generating energy, the pollution generating components just get relocated, for now, most likely.  So I'm wondering if the batteries in AEVs are more or less or equally as toxic as other vehicles.

But keep this in mind also.  Let's say a gallon of gas costs $3.50 (I am in California).  On $3.50 worth of electricity I can drive my electric car about 110 to 120 miles.  So it would take about four gallons of gas to go as far as I can go on one gallon equivalent electricity.
