Why are 'spellcheckers' and 'predictive text' so pants?

While so much software technology amazes us with its superhuman brilliance, spellcheckers and predictive text programs seem to struggle to compete with the linguistic knowledge of a minor.

Because government is savvy to the fact that linguistics is a powerful subject, and keeps the wraps on it. That is why the best Linguistics Department, at the University of St.Andrews, was shut down, ostensibly by monetarist cutbacks, despite Linguistics being the science of the future. It results in a low standard of applied linguistics => dodgy spellcheckers, underperforming predictive text, and silly subtitles.

There is no "software technology [that] amazes us with its superhuman brilliance." Only subhumans who aren't smart enough to understand how it works. Unfortunately more people are becoming subhumans and rely on spellcheck to be smarter than they are.

Take a look at how subhumans are embracing level 2 autonomy as if it is the biggest thing since sliced bread. You're really only doubling your work load since level 2 autonomy WILL crash the vehicle and you need to be actively paying attention at all times.

Source(s): Read the graph, if the human is required to keep his hands on the wheel at all times it is clearly a level 2 system. A level 3 system alerts the human that the vehicle is going to crash BEFORE there is a problem and needs the human to take over.
