PUT your HAND under the FRONT BEAK and there is a LARGE springy bent BAR to open it up! There was NO remote HOOD RELEASE! >>WHICH ENGINE do you have the 350 or the 428??? You will get MORE outstanding HP if you install a set of DENSO TWIN TIP IRIDIUM LASER plugs in there! AND get a HOLLEY CARB or updated EFI system! USE SYNTEHTIC OIL even though it was MADE during the era of LEADED FUEL! You will NEED to get the HEADS REDONE for UNLEADED fuel NOW or the SEATS will wear out! CONGRATS! I miss my old BOSS 302! TOO BAD MICHIGAN RUST got to it! IT is NOW worth about 250,000 BUCKS! DAMNIT! I TWEAKED it out to About 365 HP back then! I removed ALL the SMOG equipment's and REDID the HOLLEY and FIEN TUNDER the DISTRIBUTOR! PUT a FULL RACE cam in it and RECURVED the DISTRIBUTOR for UNREAL power! It BLEW the doors off HEMIS< 440 SIX PACKS< 350 CHEVIES the 302 Z 28 chevies and it NEVER winced a BIT doing so! AH the GOOD OLD DAYS! The BOSS was only $3600 off the SHOWROOM FLOOR! Today WHEEL and TIRES sets cost MORE!! ><>>You can FEEL under the LIP of the HOOD fr or the RELEASE handle! IT IS ABOUT TWO INCHES I think! WHAT a CAR! I woud jsut LOVE to TWEAK IT for MORE updated POWER and BETTER BRAKES and SUSPENSION ! There is a PLACE in WATERFORD MICH that has LOTS of cars fro sale UPDATED an such from THAT TIME! even a BOSS or two and many CHRYSELR CARS and OLDER camaros! <Y BOSS as set up was the KILLER at the strip in those days! It got HIGH ELEVENS at the strip and ONLY ONE car would beat me! at that time! The 427 VETTE! But it was LIGHTER nad had 435 HP !My BOSS was reallyl MORE EFFICIENT! ONCE you get the HOOD OPEN remove the LOOUSY GM distributor and get a MALLORY One! REMOVE the SMOG gear! ADD HEADERSS and maybe CHANGE the CAM , DO NOT use AC DELCO trash SPARK PLUGS! get a set of DENSO TWIN TIP IRIDIUM LASER plugs FROM ADVANCE AUTO! USE SYNTHETIC OIL and CONVERT the heads to UNLEADED! The hood release is in the front of the car in the grill.
Ya see back in those days we didn't need locking gas caps or hoods.
Because parent taught their kids right from wrong and made them go to church

Lol.
No inside hood release on that car!
It's a lever you access through the grille.
There was very little "anti-theft" in those days.
I do believe that the 1969 model year was the first ignition switch key in the steering column which also locked the steering wheel from turning when the key was in OFF position. THAT was an early theft deterrant.
