No, its bloody stupid, and you will certainly lose respect for being an idiot. Do think about it if you have any common sense at all. How the blazes can you expect to pewrsuae a teenager that it is intelligent to stop killing himself by smocking if your poisoning yourself with nicotine before his very eyes.?

Of course you can. Would you be afraid to discourage driving when they're blind drunk?

Sure. But you'll look like what you are, which is a first class HYPOCRITE, at least in your kids' eyes. The "do as I SAY but NOT AS I DO" approach NEVER WORKS with anybody, and especially not with teenagers. If you don't want your kids to smoke, then you need to QUIT DOING IT yourself, and start modeling correct behavior for them.

Not really.....they copy what they see. If you don't want them to smoke - then STOP smoking yourself.

You can, but you won't have any credibility nor motivating power when you do it.

You can..... but really, kind of a 'pot meet kettle' situation. I do understand that most people are addicted, and don't want to see their child end up like them, but if they really wanted to warn them off smoking, they would quit themselves, no matter how hard it felt.

Hell no, that is dumb as . . . . a dumb thing. Way dumb. Smoking is dumb. Lookit the dumb role model you gave your kid.
SHeesh.

Telling them off is probably ineffective.
Offering help to stop smoking now because you know how harmful it is and how much money you've agreed wasted on it would be more effective.

It's hard telling them not to do something that you do. It comes across as hypocrisy.
