Is it true, if a runner is interrupted during a run, that they could get cramp in their legs?
By interrupted, I mean they run along a trail that is 2 to 3 km in length, and during running one way or direction along the trail, they stop for 5 to 10 minutes to speak to someone they know, who they see walking along the trail in an oncoming direction.

Sure, it's possible (or it may not happen). That's why you see many runners walk around to 'cool down' after a run, and many will do a few stretches as well and hydrate, to help reduce the chance of post-run cramps.

Muscles can tighten up after exercise, that is true. That is why a "cool down" period where you continue to walk at a slower pace is recommended after a long run.
