Why are chips bad for you but potato’s good for you?

Aren’t chips made from potatoes?

I mean I see why candy is bad for you cause of all the sugar which is unhealthy but why chips.

Potato chips are bad, and not because they're high in fat or calories. Instead, it's because burnt chips, and certain other foods, contain a chemical known as acrylamide that could increase one's cancer risk.

Too much salt for starters, then that is all you eat when eating chips and dip, plus the grease that they are cooked in does nothing for your heart or any other part of the body!  If you knew enough to ask then you know enough to answer this your self!

Potatoes are an extremely nutrient-dense food. Don't answer if you don't know what you're talking about.

Lots of chemical additives!Chips are different by taste, aren't they? That newer part of the taste is additives!Plus that cooking them oil is traditionally overcooked and so is dangerous for health too.

Most potatoes ARE good for you but most chips are made of the bad (russet).

Potato chips are typically fried, and the added fat adds a lot of calories (often unhealthy fat calories). On top of that, most chips are coated in salt and/or flavorings that are high in sodium (much higher than is healthy to consume regularly).

    .

    Note (per the source site)

    1 oz of boiled potato = 24 calories, >0.1 g fat, 1 mg sodium

    1 oz of potato (salted, plain) chips = 155 calories, 10.6 g fat, 149 g sodium

Fat. It is the way chips are cooked that makes them unhealthy.

Deep frying anything adds fat and calories that are not needed.
