People talk about improving diversity in awards shows, but isn't it about who is the best rather than ethnic groups getting awards?

Update:

Or is It just whoever wins is such a dodgy issue that people can just say "let more black people win" etc.

No, an awards show is about being a show. They want the show to be something that viewers will want to watch. That's what it is about.

That's why viewer tv ratings  drop for awards shows every year. It's just a WOKE exercise now. Oscar best picture nominees must follow new WOKE rules.

Some really good actors/actresses get overlooked by subpar actors/actresses. The awards should give everyone a chance not just white people regardless if you're a liberal or conservative.

In the real world, yes. In liberal fantasyland it's all about "diversity".

The award shows are about political correctness and punishing those that do not conform .

Thank you. I'm pleased it isn't just me who thinks that!
