Type 2 diabetes is a common condition that causes high blood sugar levels. Early signs and symptoms can include frequent urination, increased thirst, feeling tired and hungry, vision problems, slow wound healing, and yeast infections.

Not diabetic, but my mother is. She has type 1 diabetes. She experienced puking a lot, having to pee a lot, not sure what else as I haven’t asked.

It can, but,  it will really depend on the particular diabetic. Rapidly changing blood sugar levels manifesting in needing to urinate more frequently or blurry/sharpening vision, caused by swelling of the eyes. So noticing sudden blurred or sharpening of your vision could be a sign that you may want to get checked out.

At the very least a yearly A1c and other markers in your labs, to get a baseline to know where you are, compared to where you may be a year or two from now.

By the time you have symptoms - you ARE diabetic.  The "very early stage" is just the point when your sugar levels are starting to trend toward diabetes.  The "pre-diabetic" stage has NO symptoms and would usually only be caught by having annual check-ups with bloodwork being done.

For my husband, frequent urination was the biggest clue.  He was getting up two or three times per night to pee and that was not normal for him.  He was actually diabetic and not pre-diabetic at the time of his diagnosis.

Often, no. Sometimes there may be a yeast infection or more frequent skin infections.  Usually I find high glucose as a secondary finding on a urinalysis for a UTI, For example

In for a fever, caused by a Carbuncle, and the lab tes when I was hospitalized was first for sure that I had it.  I kept needing to urinate for the prior to going to the hospital for the fever and weeping wound.
