How does it work?

I want to open my own tattoo shop but I dont know how it works. Anyone know how the artists get paid? Is it hourly? Based on work done? Thanks!

I'm not going in to anything blindly or anything like that if you guys read what I said I was just asking some questions. I'm asking just to see how it goes because I would probably never actually open one.

Perhaps work in a tattoo shop first to get an idea of how they run...

do you have a following? and hopefully you're very talented. you should have a thick book of designs of your art to choose from. your shop will have clients mostly through word of mouth, and clients showing off your work. when you have enough loyal clients and equipment, then you can open a shop.

It might be a good idea if you took a short course on how to run a business, going into something like this blindly could cause you financial ruin. You could also try working from home, I have a friend that did this for two years until they were sure it was what they wanted to do. They now own four tattoo parlous.
